Mistakes&Excuses I Hate to Hear

[digg=http://digg.com/business_finance/Mistakes_Excuses_I_Hate_to_Hear/blog]My stomach was in knots today as I sat and reflected on an honest mistake I had made the week prior. The longer I sat, the more I questioned my ability to do the things I think are critical for young marketers to be able to do. Obviosly, I got over it, however it was disappointing to question my ability to flawlessly execute a project.I believe, the more young marketing professionals can learn how to execute the more successful they will be in a managerial role. The conclusion is based on the idea that the less a manager has to worry about execution, the more time they will have to concentrate on strategy.Focusing on execution is also very un-Gen-Y like according to several articles written about managing this group.  “We only like to work on fun projects.” Right…(saracstic)And for what it’s worth, I wrote this blog to comment on excuses I hate the most for failed execution. Here they are in no particular order:

  1. The technology didn’t work. Then you should have figured it out before.
  2. I’m swamped. Aren’t we all?
  3. Someone else dropped the ball. Pointing one finger means three more are pointing right back at yourself.

Please leave a comment and share the excuses you hate to hear.
